Hey, all! I know it's been quiet from me for the past few weeks, and partially that's because I wanted to leave the Valin scene up so everyone got a chance to see it. But also, I've been keeping busy!
Here's what's up in Will World. First of all, some of you may be glad to know that the House of Blades audiobook is back on track. I started it last summer expecting to have it out by the fall, but I ended up having to stop recording so that I could focus on OSAS. Now I'm recording again, looking to finish it as fast as I can. So if that's something you're waiting on, it shouldn't be too much longer! Speaking of waiting, there's another project making progress 'round these parts: the Shadow/Sea paperbacks! I proofed a digital copy of the Sea layout this morning, which means that the physical books are only a few weeks away. And, because you know I like to rush books out as fast as humanly possible, I'm hard at work on the Elder Empire sequels: Of Dawn and Darkness / Of Darkness and Dawn. With the Empire being torn apart by the warring Guilds, the Elders have started making trouble. Shera and Calder both look for help...but they turn to opposing Guilds for guidance. Shera goes to the priestly Luminian Order, and Calder seeks out his former allies in the Blackwatch. Release date TBA! ...but it won't be too many months from now. I work hard, not smart. Also, I'll be headed to Boston in a couple of weeks for the legendary PAX East! If you'll be at the convention, let me know, and I'll...say hi, or sign a book, or something. I don't know, I don't plan ahead. But send me an email, or a tweet, or a Facebook message and we'll make something happen! On a side note, if I haven't responded to your blog comment in a timely manner, sorry! The blog notifications have been going to my junk folder instead of my inbox, so several of them have slipped through the cracks. That's all the news that's fit to print, ladies and gentlemen. As always, thanks for reading! -Will

Hello, ladies and gentlemen! I come before you this afternoon to address the most common question I am asked every day:
"When, sir, will you release City of Light unto us?" (It's usually phrased exactly like that) The short answer is I don't know. The useful answer is "PROBABLY between March 30th and April 10th," because on April 10th I'll be leaving for PAX East in Boston, Massachusetts. And now that I've gotten those more helpful responses out of the way, hit the jump for a longer answer: Ladies and gentlemen, we have crossed 20,000 sales.
As of yesterday morning, we passed the 20K mark. That's incredible! Thanks everyone for buying the books, leaving a review, telling your friends, and using your private jet to write my name in the clouds. You guys are the best! Also, thanks to those of you who sent me the typos from the first edition of Crimson Vault. I really do like receiving those, because the text isn't set in stone. I can fix these typos, and then future readers get a slightly cleaner draft. I still haven't cleared all the typos out, due to Dragon*Con, but I'm working on it. Beginning next week, I should have all your changes made. At that point, you should contact Amazon if you want the updated, cleaner file on your Kindle. In the meantime, I'm back from Dragon*Con, and I had a blast! I am now going to follow that up by taking some REAL time off, as--though Dragon*Con is unbelievably fun--it's not a great way to relax after writing a book. So this week I'm going to relax, play some League of Legends, On my way to DragonCon, right now!
The only real panel I'm looking forward to today is Jim Butcher's steampunk thing at 5:30, but let me know if I'm missing out on something cool. Oh, also: The Crimson Vault sold over a thousand copies yesterday. In case you were wondering, that's a lot. You guys are the best! Thanks for buying, thanks for reading, thanks for leaving reviews on Amazon, and thanks for telling your friends. Right now, Crimson Vault is the #1 best-selling Epic Fantasy book on Kindle, the #1 best-selling Epic Fantasy book on Amazon as a whole, the #1 best-selling Sword & Sorcery book on Kindle... You know what? I'm not going to bore you with that. It's high. And it's all because of you guys, so thanks! You should reward yourselves by reading a good book. I recommend Blood Song. I have officially submitted The Crimson Vault to Amazon.
It is now "in review" by Amazon staff, and should be available for sale tonight. ...assuming nothing goes wrong. Of course, I slept not at all this past night, and now I'm off to DragonCon in Atlanta. Which means I may not really experience the con, I may just sleep all weekend. Well, it'll be a good time either way. EDIT: Apparently a partial page is up on Amazon here. You can buy it, but apparently details like the preview aren't fully up yet. This is out of my control. It's in Amazon's cold, clammy hands. So here I am at Ancient City Con in Jacksonville, FL. I was going to test the waters, to try out my awesome new House of Blades shirts, and to enjoy a really cool con that's close to where I live. And someone else canceled, so I was able to get a booth in the Dealer's Hall. This is surreal: here I am at a gaming/anime convention, promoting (in my own booth) a book that I wrote. What a strange world in which we live. Incidentally, today House of Blades is doing better than ever! Over 213 sales today SO FAR, and it's up to #358 out of all the books in the Kindle store! I shed a single, manly tear today. Just one. It rolled down my rugged, sun-baked cheek. On another note, hey, if you're in the area: check out Ancient City Con in Jacksonville! I'll give you a peppermint. |
