Updates on the Updated House of Blades Update

5/26/2014

...and also, happy Memorial Day!

For those of you wondering, the revised House of Blades is available on Amazon. They were supposed to send out an email to everyone who purchased the HoB ebook, but they didn't, so that's that.

Eventually Amazon may email you, but in the meantime, you can update your e-version of House of Blades to the new stuff by asking them for an update. You can do so at this link: http://www.amazon.com/kindlesupport

To summarize once again, the major changes are in the beginning of the book. There are minor changes in every chapter, including a couple of new scenes, but I really wanted to make sure that the beginning got new readers off to a good start.

In other news, I should cross ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND total novel sales sometime in the next 48 hours.

This is mind-blowing to me.  House of Blades technically went up for the first time on June 1st, 2013, although it wasn't REALLY available for sale until the 2nd.

But either way, that means I've sold 100,000 novels (I'm not counting the short stories) in my first year as a professional writer.

That's incredible. Some days, I still don't believe it.

I was really getting bored with fantasy and switched to reading sci-fi the last couple of years. By chance I saw HoBs posted on reddit and the description and mostly the cover(I know never judge a book by its cover) looked really interesting. I'm really glad I did. I've read everything now that you've written. Great stuff! Keep up the good work!

I never checked this post for comments, for some reason, so I didn't see your encouraging comment until now. Thanks, Paul! Nothing fuels my desire to keep writing more than hearing that people enjoy my books.

As an aside, "Don't judge a book by its cover" is impossible advice. Given an equal choice between two books, one of which has a lame cover with an old castle on it and one of which has a cool space-ninja riding a dragon, you're going to pick the second one. Human nature.

That's why I had to make sure mine stood out. Plus, if I get to help design a book cover, I'd rather it looked awesome.

Apparently I never checked this post for comments. FOR SHAME, PAST WILL!

I'm sorry I let you languish so long without a response, Zemero. In recompense, I'll give you an actual answer, instead of the weird word-games I usually give people who ask me what I'm working on.

My current project is called Of Sea and Shadow. It follows an assassin and a pirate in a world that has been ruled by a single Empire since the dawn of man...only the Emperor died, and now his Empire is slowly dying. And in the background, the world-consuming Elder Gods are rising.

It's got cannons and magical swords and Lovecraftian horrors and Knights and alchemists and all sorts of neat stuff that I'm having a lot of fun working on. I think you'll like it.

I hate coming across relatively new authors that are amazing. Now I have to wait and hope you publish something new so that I can devour it. Spending money I don't have and ignoring responsibilities I do have... oh wait, maybe this is actually a good thing. Forces me to crawl out of my hole for a little while.

But really, great work. I've read all your books at least once (and the trilogy maybe two... or three times) I can't wait to see where you take us next. I was a little scared when you said you were taking us away from Simon, but that turned out not to be so bad. And they popped up again here and there! Good luck in your endeavors and thanks for what we have so far!

Thanks, Cantu! I figure if I can keep putting out three books a year, no one will get TOO bored waiting for me.

Yay! I'm so happy for you! :) You really deserved it. Now you'll have extreme bragging rights.

On another note what else do plan or hope for your books? Would you ever have them made as a movie/comic/or game? A RPG would be so awesome.

There's not a whole lot I can do on my own to initiate the production of a movie, comic, or game, so I tend not to think about it. If someone offers to produce one, I'll take it from there.

That said, I think this setting would be a lot of fun as a pen-and-paper RPG. It would be a little hard making it into a video game RPG, because the Territories aren't balanced at all. Valinhall OP, needs nerf.

I am one who typically enjoys the fantasy genre as well as mysterious figures in black cloaks. Thus, the reviews I read about HoB enticed me to purchase it.

I thoroughly enjoyed the read and I could tell that you (Will) are someone who enjoys what he does. I found the book to be much better than the reviews had claimed it to be. I must say that I admire your writing style. It flows easily through the mind.

I am truly excited to see what wonders you have in store with your next projects and, naturally, the rest of this series.
Keep up the great work, Sir Wight!

Now, onward to book two....

I really enjoyed the series and short stories. Are you moving on from HoB world or will there be more short stories to come?

My favorite short story was the Steel Labyrinth and the development of the "Wanderer" and I'd love to know more about his story leading up to finding Valinhall (and how he found it). Lightning Wastes was fun as well with the Simon/Leah side story. I wouldn't mind hearing more about what happens after the HoB timeline ends with the current series.

I found the website/series from Amazon recommendations. The reviews were glowing and I found myself completely engrossed as I started the first book. I'm looking forward to your new series.

Thanks, Shantanu! I'm only temporarily leaving the Traveler's Gate world behind--I'll be back at some point with a prequel novel about the founding of Valinhall, and (eventually) a sequel to see what Simon's been up to!

But for now, I had to move on to a different world for a while. Can't stay in one place for too long!
