Unsouled Audio U.K. Giveaway!

11/12/2018

Never let it be said that I don't keep my word...eventually.

For those of you with an Audible.co.uk account, now's your chance to get a free copy of Unsouled on Audible! We're giving away twenty-five copies of Unsouled on audio...which as far as I know may be more than I have fans in the UK, so maybe everybody will get one! Who knows?

And we'll be doing another UK giveaway for Soulsmith soon (though we may not give out so many copies that time), so look out for that!

Comment below on this post and tell me which superpower you would most want and why.

My hidden gnomes will then pick their
ten favorite responses and give those people a code for a free Unsouled audiobook!

When you comment, make sure to use an email address you check, because on Wednesday we're going to pick those 25 comments and email you each a promo code to download Unsouled for free!

(You can use it yourself or give it to someone else with an Audible.co.uk account!)

DISCLAIMER: The code only works on Audible.co.uk, NOT Audible.com. If you don't have an Audible.co.uk account associated with your email, please either don't comment or make it clear that we shouldn't pick you as a winner (let's save the code for someone who can actually do something with it).

If you get your audiobooks from Audible.co.uk, these codes are for you! So let's see your comments below!

-Will

I have neither an audible nor live in the UK, so this is the only contribution I can make here.

Also, I see your secret gnomes are picking their 10 favorite responses. Who picks the other 15?

I would most want teleportation. Caveat - "Jumper" style, not "Nightcrawler" - I don't want to leave a whiff behind and be limited to distances I could catch a bus for!

I'm about to spend 4 1/2 hours on a train tomorrow, and on Wednesday I'm doing the journey back, so teleportation could be a huge help!

Plus, I'd be the first person at the theme park every time I got the urge to go!

Don't pick me because I don't listen to audiobooks, but I've always thought that having the power to understand and communicate in all languages (omnilingualism, "the gift of tongues") would be the most practically useful super power if you're going to be the only person in the world with powers.

Not only would you be able to contribute to archaeology by translating Linear A and all the other undeciphered writing systems, you could probably make bank as a computer programmer.

That being said immortality via some sort of suitably safe respawn mechanism would probably be the way to go if we're being boring and practical.

The power to create things, but only from my subconscious, as in I will myself to create stuff, but my subconscious picks what actually gets made. It would make superhero showdowns climactic because most of what gets made will be useless/embarrassing.
That or the power to travel through time so i can go twenty years into the future in order to read the next 20 cradle books.

I’m not entering the competition, just wanna share.
I think the one power I would love the most, would be to have unlimited energy. Simply because it would mean I’d never have to eat and I’d be able to just walk, run and swim forever. I’d be able to walk around the world without stopping.
Also.... UNLIMITED POOOOWWWWEEEERR!!!

I'm only doing this because it's fun.

The ability to always know the right words to say. It can range from winning debates, consoling someone, persuasion and even deception. Whatever the goal may be, you'll talk your way to it.

Don’t pick me, I’m on audible US not UK. But if I had a super power it would be Felix Campbell’s Upgrade powers from Super Sales on Super Hero’s. Being able to fix and upgrade at will would be so nice.

The ability to control time. Bored? Speed time up. Having the best time of your life? Make it last forever. Most importantly though, pause time and read books forever.

Not sure if it's a superpower but the ability to build and control nanites with my mind.
Basically be able to build anything out of any element. Just like in John Robert Marlow's Nano book....but with my mind....

The ability to cause people to act like stereotypical megalomaniacs and not realize it by writing their name down( a la Death Note). Writing their name a second time causes the effects to stop. This included a propensity to hatch outrageous plans to get revenge for the slightest insult, spontaneously breaking out into maniacal laughter, the complete abandonment of all forms of common sense, and an increased affinity with cats.
If I gained this power I would use it as a force for good by using it on all politicians, but only when they are in public. Im not about to cause someone who controls a nuclear arsenal to become a megalomaniac when I can't see them.

I would want an aura that extended however much around me that I wanted, was invisible, and I could control. Like, in summer, you could have a one foot (more if you are nice to your friends) cooling and bug-repelling aura. If we’re talking superhero stuff, you could have an electrically charged aura, or an aura just on your skin that was completely solid, unbreakable (don’t think I spelled that right), and shock absorbent. An aura of regeneration, aura of slowing tone so that you perceive the rest of the world slower than other people to move faster, etc.

I'd say the power to give anyone in the world a really good slap across the face, whoever and wherever they are.
Politician being an idiot on TV? SLAP! Internet troll? SLAP! Making the world a better place, one slap at a time!

Super fast learning, like task master in Marvel. See something and you can mimic it.

Because tbh I don’t want to be a superhero who would I even battle? but man if I wouldn’t love having a power that made me better at life on the whole. Catch me binge watching the olympics and every professional fight recorded.

I would love to have Shapechanging - the type of shapechanging that allows you to become anything (from a sofa to a tree to a blue whale), not just squash yourself into a shape (like elastic man) or limit yourself to a savage beastform. I would want this because it would be SOOOO cool to be able to experience Life and Being(when not in a living form) in so many guises. What is the secret life of a flower pot? A noble Sequoia? a lowly cowpat?

being able to transfer one's consciousness into these different vessels at will would be an awesome power for the usual superhero tropes, but also a wonderful tool for exploring the miracle of self-awareness.

definitely my top pick!

Im not entering myself into the running i just want to share what i would want as a superpower.

Dr Manhattan from the watchmen has the ability to view time as one moment or something like that. I would want the ability to see my own timestream similar to his and have the knowledge to know how to mess with it for my benefit. So if you want to know if your outcome has a good outcome you can always just skip ahead and see. Its a bit of a combination of the time travel and the save point system.

Not in the UK just commenting
I think the power to give every living creature (including me), with at least at least some ability to think, powers; So no powered AI, powered viruses, powered plants (that aren't intelligent), most small insects, etc. The powers would be thematically appropriate to the being in question (and also useful and not mundane, so no being able to wiggle your ears for five seconds at low speeds type thing) which would depend on the disposition, profession, personal experience of said being and would change overtime as those dependent factors change.
So it would be basically chaos but it would be awesome while it lasted. Plus I always thought being the only one with powers kinda seemed boring and kinda lonely.

11/13/2018 11:11:09 pm

when I say "including me", I mean I would get said defined powers as well as (or replacing as it is kinda of a one time use power anyway). The effect of the power would stay in place from the time of use to forever (so no take backs) and even people born after the use of said power would also gain powers.

Not entering.
By far and away my ideal superpower would be something to do with memory. But not for any supervillainy reasons, but just so I can forget everything about all my favorite videogames, movies and of course books to experience them again for the first time. I reread books a lot, but it’s never the same magical first experience. Would also be useful for making it really easy to deceive, but while believing I’m being truthful.

For those curious, my top picks to wipe and re-experience would be Ocarina of Time, Breath of the Wild, Skyrim, Horizon Zero Dawn, Mario 64 and Sunshine, then new God of War, and Red Dead Redemption for videogames. For books, Ender’s Game, Ender’s Shadow, Unsouled-Ghostwater, HoB-CoL, King’s Dark Tidings (Kel Kade), Overlord (Light novel) [Kugane Maruyama], Endless Online (M. H. Johnson), and pretty much everything by Blaise Corvin and Evan Currie.

If I'm too late, I need the ability to reverse time, for obvious reasons.

If I'm not too late, I'd very much like the ability to speed up time, to get to Wednesday a bit quicker, then straight onto whenever Underlord appears.

You had mentioned reading series that inspired you (WuxiaWorld) was wondering if you had heard about an online series similar to cradle where the main character starts in some form of school with similar magic to your cradle. and in short order gets either kicked out or leaves. I've read some of it but lost track and it's a great read (not as good as your stuff) but it's not a true published work.

I'm trying to find it again. Computer died with all downloadable content
