The last post has way too many comments, so we need a new blog, but I've been so busy that I don't have a whole lot to say.
That sounds contradictory, but it's true. I was going to do a quick review of Us, but that's not really a whole blog post so much as two lines: "All the acting, directing, and dialogue are excellent, but the rules of the world are vague, confusing, and contradictory. B+/A- depending on the degree to which world-class acting and writing can make you forget that what's happening doesn't make a whole lot of sense." So in that case, I turn to you! What movie (or game) would you like me to review next time I don't have any news for the blog? I'll review basically anything except books. I don't want to use this space to pick on other authors, so the only time I'll review a book is if I think it's fantastic. But I don't mind tearing apart movies or games...or praising them if they're awesome. Anyway, tell me in the comments which filler content you'd like to see! Go! And, of course, real news will be the priority if there is any to share. -Will

I think a full review (100% serious and in no way tongue-in-cheek) of Trolls 2 would be a great way to spend some time.

Would love to hear your thoughts on two movies that made me go WTF for very different reasons. The first is Predestination - Ethan Hawke is a time travelling cop trying to stop a time travelling terrorist. The second is Abducted in Plain Sight, a documentary that made me face palm every 10 minutes

Shazam, Infinity War, Godzilla: King of Monsters are the kinds of movies I'm generally most interested in. Are there any movies that are really well regarded (like >=80 avg critic score) but you don't think are good either old or new?

We may have a clue in Underlord as to how the Jades took down the Sage. When the Blackflame attacked into the Night Wheel Valley, they ran into a spell formation that made them all dopey. It even affected the Emperor, and he's an Overlord. I don't think it was specified that the spell formation was powered by the Seishen king (also an Overlord), so if it wasn't a Lord-level effect, and given that Sacred Valley specializes in Dream madra, something similar might've been done to the Sage.

Definitely not Neil Gaiman
3/28/2019 10:33:50 pm
Will, I agree! Extending your critique, I'm very curious to know what you think of authors like Neil Gaiman. His worlds almost never have rules laid out, and at times the rules may even be/seem contradictory, and they certainly can be confusing (I can come up with some specific examples if you want), but I guess it never seems like the absence or bending/breaking of rules are breaking the internal logic of the story, if that makes any sense. Do you agree with that/is that a differentiation you like to make? Oh, and not asking for a review of any of his books, just curious.
