I'm not in a hurry for Underlord. Ghostwater was an amazing work of art, and I appreciate you taking the time to make it such. Please take all the time you need to forge each new book into that kind of fine-tuned beauty. I love all of your books, Will, but Ghostwater took the proverbial cake.

Yeah lots of books but I think he may do a time skip after Underlord or the book after. Personally I think that's okay because to grow stronger after underlord would take a while, years minimum. An Underlord is synonymous with Demi-God.

That's a possibility. Honestly though, I'm not really talking with anyone right now who doesn't work in my lab with me. And whenever I mention fantasy novels to them they always say

So in a weird coincidence I guess, I stumbled upon the Unsouled book on Audible.com, downloaded it on a whim, and just finished listening to it and I can't get enough! Unfortunately, the other books aren't on Audible yet but I neeeed my Cradle fix now!

I google'd around trying to find how to get the novels... and found your blog and there's a sale that I made it JUST IN TIME for! Divine intervention!?

I've now purchased the entire series (Missed the sale on Book 4 it seems- but happily paid full price anyway) and will definitely purchase the audiobooks as they are released as well.

Just wanted to say, from a new fan, THANK YOU for such an intriguing series! Looking forward to burying my nose into my phone over the new few days to catch up to everyone else!

Any time I want to really depress myself I go take a look a Amazon's top 100 fantasy books page. There's so much total crap there it's not even funny. And the stuff that's isn't crap are books that are 10-20 years old.

There's no doubt that the best fantasy being written these days does not often rise to the top of that list. Unfortunately, I think this probably says a lot more about fantasy readers these days than it does the writers.

You read Brandon Sanderson's works yet? His books are really good, and deliciously intricate. I recommend him and Will to any fantasy reader.

May we please have a book update?? I feel like since there haven’t been any, you’re about to drop a surprise super release, but if you recall, you had a lot of buildup before blackflame in terms of keeping us up to date and it was a huge success!!! Really, just tell me you’re about to release things even if you’re not. It’s the thought that counts.

Yes! I second this comment and strongly suggest (ask) for an update on book release dates... when is OKAK coming out and when is the likely date for Underlord? just a guesstimate would be perfectly fine. I know you don't like to tie yourself down...

Well this is TL;DR. And, obviously, I’m no one special, but usually Will says something like this:
The Elder Empire series is a parallel trilogy. There are two main characters (one named Calder and another named Shera). There are three books that follow Calder and three books that follow Shera. Calder’s Book 1 and Shera’s Book 1 happen at the same time and even tell about some of the same events, but one is from Calder’s perspective and the other is from Shera’s perspective. It’s the same thing with each character’s books 2 and 3.

So, Calder’s “track” has these books in it — Of Sea and Shadow (OSAS), Of Dawn and Darkness (ODAD), and Of Kings and Killers (OKAK).
Shera’s “track” has these books — Of Shadow and Sea (OSAS), Of Darkness and Dawn (ODAD), and Of Killers and Kings (OKAK).

The acronyms above (like OSAS) designate that the corresponding books (in this case, Of Sea and Shadow/Of Shadow and Sea) are parallel to each other. By parallel, I just mean that they concern a different protagonist, but they happen at the same time on the timeline. There are multiple crossovers between the two tracks with each set of parallel novels.

All of that goes to say this:
1) Start with an OSAS book. It doesn’t matter whether you start with Calder or Shera...each one will start at essentially the same time in the timeline and build the world at a similar pace.
2) Read either the parallel OSAS book, or read the ODAD book along the track you started with — e.g., if you started with the Shera track in Of Shadow and Sea, then read either Of Sea and Shadow (Calder’s Book 1), or read Of Darkness and Dawn (Shera’s Book 2).
3) If the second book you read was Calder’s Book 1, then read either Calder’s or Shera’s ODAD’s next.
If the second book you read was Shera’s Book 2, then go back and read Calder’s track starting from OSAS.

That got really long, but I hope it helps:) Essentially, you have options, which is a lot of fun. Since the parallel books happen along the same timeline, you can even read them at the same time — swapping back and forth at different increments throughout the book. Choose whatever option you like the best...just start with an OSAS book:)

I'd like to see a Venom review. That movie just came out and I was really excited for it, but it's gotten terrible ratings by critics. Last I checked it had a 28% out of 100 on rotten tomato the day before it came out, but it's since improved since non-critics have seen and reviewed the movie.

Why is there such a difference in opinion between critics and casual movie watchers?

But I agree. It always seems that when fans like a movie, critics don’t, and when critics like a movie, fans don’t. Why? I do not know.
