I Have No Book News

8/2/2018

I've spent last week and this week holed up in a cabin doing nothing but writing. That always makes it hard for me to say anything on the site, because the update "I'm writing" doesn't seem complete enough.

That's all I'm doing: plugging away. Hitting keys with my fingers while watching pictures in my head.

There's been major progress made on the Unsouled audiobook and minor progress on the City of Light audiobook, but I can't say anything more specific than that right now because neither is ready to be uploaded yet (although Unsouled will be soon).

The Elder Empire covers have been done for a few months now, but I'm waiting to reveal them all so that I can change out the current ebook and paperback covers at the same time as the full reveal, and that's taking a while.

The books are slowly taking shape on my laptop and in my brain. I have no update to the progress meter because quite honestly I don't know if I'm making forward progress or lateral progress.

However, here's a cool and random thing: I continue to learn how to outline better. Usually I spend way too much time outlining, because when I start writing I'm just going to deviate from the outline anyway. This time, I've locked down more points so that I can't deviate as much.

And, uh...that's it. I feel bad, because I want to share more with you, but I've been 100% submerged in writing since I got back from St. Louis. I figured a "Hey, I'm writing" update was better than nothing, so at the very least you all could know where my head is.

You all are great, thanks for reading, and I'll share more as soon as I emerge from my writing-pod.

This is so relatable that it isn't even funny. Okay, maybe a little.

I'm just excited that you're writing! I can't wait to read it.

As long as you don't release the book around Decemeber 13th, I'm fine. My finals are around then. XD

Heh. If he were to release a book around December 12th, that'd be an excellent birthday gift to me. Dec would just have to fail his finals. Or worse, wait to read the new book!

Not that it's not great to hear from you, but if your reason for not posting updates is, "I'm working my ass off to write as much as I can," you won't see any complaints from me.

At least this update isn't disappointing like good reads sending out the next James Islington book in the August releases only to find out that it's still a year away. So hooray?

Off-topic question, but something you would know.

Out of curiosity, when writing a book are you supposed to align left or justify the text?

Left-aligned, always. If I were writing a newspaper excerpt to go into one of my novels, maybe I'd justify THAT so that it stands out from the rest of the text. Otherwise, standard format is left-aligned. It's way easier to read, and it prevents nasty spacing problems or hyphen-split words in the middle of the text that can make reading awkward.

Thanks Will! I was really having a hard time picking! Left-aligned it is.

With all the wannabe authors Will has helped, I'm fully expecting at least 10 Cradle knockoffs to show up on Amazon.

Shhhhh Little Ning'er.

My series is named "Nursery", and as you will see in the first book "Void Spirit." It is about a young male protagonist who was born tremendously underpowered in a world of magical martial arts.

Hmmm....
Two thoughts...

1. Sounds very familiar.
2. I would totally still buy that, just to tide me over for Underlord

It's original! I swear.

You see, the main character, Bindon, learns that he was born with a unique sacred body, which is the reason why he is void spirited.

It turns out he can only absorb vital aura through his c**k, by using it to... ehm... entertain sacred artists of the opposite gender.

This means he must make lots of long-term female friends in order to advance his sacred arts.

I apologize. Your book is clearly completely original.

Thanks for all you do, Sir...SPOILER Question

Is it safe to assume that Dross was able to download the contents of the dream tablets in the library?

I'm curious as to how progressing to underlord is going to go for Lindon. Since he has 2 cores is that going to have significance? Like is he going to have 2 soul spaces and is he going to have to reforge his body in soulfire with both cores to advance? Especially given the descriptions of how soulfire is positioned in the soulspaces.

Enjoying speculating on how the books are going. I also really feel like the ruins plays a critical role. I am eager to see how that is going to work after reading the books again and seeing Suriel's memories about Ozrial's life and how it went.

I think I am going to go back and reread the Saga of Recluce by L.E. Modesitt Jr while waiting on Underlord. Unless someone has a recommendation.

My husband drives truck and spends most of his days listening to audiobooks, when I found your series I began reading them to him and we are both hooked. We have many days of discussion about the future direction of each character and we enjoy speculating Lindon's relation to Ozrial and Suriel. I wish I had the talent in your little pinky! Sir, you are amazing and we anticipate each new book in the Cradle series with the wonder of a child at Chrstmas time! Thank you for what you do, you do it well!
