Happy Halloween: New Deathmatch Tonight!

It's been roughly a million years since I've sent out a story to the mailing list, so I decide to surprise you with one tonight!

This is Deathmatch #3: a collection of three short matches, all of which were proposed last time. Many of the deathmatches were close, even matches...but some were not, and these were some of those in the latter category.

In the past, this has been recommended:

Step 1: sign up for the mailing list by going to the Say Hello link in the upper right of the site if you haven't already.
Step 2: from that same page, send Will an email asking for the latest short story.

Eventually Will may get to the point where he's too busy to get short stories out to individuals in such cases, but I think that it's still manageable so far.

Hopefully at some point in the future, the short stories will be either released on Kindle or posted up to the website so that new readers can get access to stories that went out before they joined the mailing list.

He consumes dragon hearts as far as I remember. I don't think Lindon has one of those....Orthos...well I doubt a truegold turtle would be much of a meal, more like a mid-night snack.

What I'd really love to see would be the emperor vs a monarch. That seems like a fair match up though the emperor could be a level or two above or below.

The emperor was on par to a Sage. So he's below by at least two levels to northstrider. Monarchs>Heralds>Sages(best Arclords)

If the emperor was on par with a sage, and he was able to control or at least hold off the elders for the most part,, that would imply that it takes (at least) sage level power to fight a dread god. If sages aren't enough and you need monarchs to really fight a dread god, how powerful are the dreadgods compared to elders?

I'd be reaaaally interested in seeing a dreadgod vs an elder in a death match.

I'd like to see how powerful the emperor could get as a cultivator in a world like cradle where he didn't have to constantly monitor the world for threats from abidan level beings and keep them under control. It seems like his willpower and intelligence would allow him to get pretty high.

I think it depends. If Kai was enhanced with the power of Elysia like how Simon was he might be able to match one. Idk though.

*Recently I've been puzzling over something in Amalgam, many of the Valinhall powers used are taken from a different source. Take a look at Simons steel and the nye essence. They can both run out at different times depending on how much of each you pull.

Advancing in Cradle is clear cut, with exacting steps to the next advancement.
While advancing in Amalgam seems like a jigsaw 'puzzle'. That word made me think of something. Perhaps all the parts for advancement do exist in amalgam, but you need to find them in different territories. This leads me to think perhaps Valinhall has more potential than is let on.

The city of light has seven sections which also leads me to think maybe it was originally artificially enhanced like Valinhall, I mean it's strange how it has a tie to each of the lesser territories.

Probably depends on the overlord, some of them would wreck a Valinhall. The path of the Grasping Sky could simply use a ruler technique to hold them in the air and strangle them (it's not possible to exert strength without something to push on)

Furthermore, I think we overestimate Valinhall travelers quite a lot. In Amalgam, we always see them compared to people that are completely average physically. Remember than Simon would loose to Urzaia without the mask for instance, so he's not that fast/strong. On cradle, everyone has superhuman physical abilities, so we tend to underestimate them (because our perception is that of someone with superhuman physical abilities).

For his age Simon is a lot stronger than he has a right to be. Will says Simon is at highgold status more or less. That puts him on par with Yerin in simply power, her skill is obviously far above his. In other words Simon would be an elite in Cradle at a young age. I think Kai qualified at roughly Truegold and maybe a half step into Lord, similar to Jai Long.

What is the Aurelian empire? I'm assuming some relation to the Aurelias family... I read that short story not getting who this was.

Aurelian Empire is from the Elder Empire series - it's the name of the empire that the series revolves around. No connection to the Arelius family from Cradle, despite the name similarity, per previous blog comments from Will.

The only way to get the short stories is to just email Will. I'm not sure what your parent's reasoning behind not letting you use your email for anything else is but I think that doing that at least should be fine and not risky.

I think it would be a total wipe, we know alin is apparently about a low gold level according to northstrider, plus his only possible advantage is having a lot of tricks to pull out which would be useless against eithan

Northerners word's were barely stronger than a Gold. He didn't say Lowgold, highgold, or truegold. Those three stages make up the gold stage so we can assert Alin is at Underlord level. If not at least very close.

Ok so two things, I would love to see will wight fight someone who was actually aware of his authorness just they they could get freaked out by the meta ness of it just like will was in the first one, despite the fact it would be an utter wipe, someone like suriel just so she could be like wuuuuuuut.
Secondly, an over powered eithan who could face the emperor bc they both have sort of pure madra type abilities so I think it would be interesting to see how they came to grips with each other
Thirdly, now that I’ve just had another idea, lindon vs jail long but with all the tools and contracts he prepared but had taken away from him bc I just think it would be really cool to see how a fairer fight would turn out as well as getting to see the exotic powers exhibited

When writing it you have to do it all in one sitting without stopping or deleting anything, because that will make it more like a genuine rap battle. No backspace key.

I'm probably a bit late to the party, but might i suggest a match-up? The Dreadgods against the Elders. I mean we can't have all the dreadgods against all the elders since we only know one dredgod in detail, but the bleeding phoenix might be able to take on Nakothi, don't you think?
