I have not read cradle because I only have time for audio books. So I will pick Kai from the travelers gate series. His relationship with the dolls and whimsical additude always make me chucke. Also the voicework for him in the book is the best.

Tough question, I'd say Dalinar from Stormligh archives, especially after seeing his past in Oathbringer.

If video games are included too, then I would give a special mention for Gaunter O'Dimm from the Witcher 3, which is probably my favorite villain.

I’d have to say Will from Rangers Apprentice. While I might find the Rangers Apprentice series to be too young for me now, it was my gateway into fantasy and brought me to where I am today in the genre. Will was always the character that might not have gotten all the appreciation from the masses, but did his job and did it well.

That's a tough one, there are a lot of really good characters. It comes down to either Dalinar (Stormlight Archive), Eithan, Lindon, or Nightblood (Warbreaker). Of those, I'd have to choose Dalinar, far and away, with Eithan as second.

So many books and so many characters..... x.x.... At first i was thinking either kaladin from brandon sandersons book or even the main character from jumper David( shout out to anyone who read the book not the movie haha), but over all i agree with the couple comments above me. Eithan is amazing! When a sense of humor meets omnipresence! He also seems like an overall nice person. I loved the part where he gave the girl a flower because she seemed stressed. I also love the cradle series and am not ashamed to ask PICK ME hahaha!

p.s. hurry up with elder empire D:!

Perrin Aybara - A man with the soul of a wolf, he is a study of stark contrasts. He works as a blacksmith which has taught him a slow, methodical nature. Combined with his immense strength this makes him a perfect gentle giant. After he leaves the comfort of his hometown, he discovers his other half. His eyes turn yellow and his inner wolf surfaces. This part of him cares nothing for the world of men and seeks only to be free to follow its desires. He drops the hammer of his youth to take up the axe as a wolf. As Perrin's travels take him around the world he also take a journey through his mind to consolidate these massively disparate parts of himself. This confrontation comes to a head as he is called to lead an army to war. The gentle blacksmith and raging wolf are directly opposed as he seeks to lead men on to the slaughter fields. He eventually decides that he will be a builder king and takes back up his hammer. Simultaneously he accepts that he is both man and wolf giving him the advantages of both.

I'd say Shallan from Stormlight Archives is one of my favorites. I have such a love hate relationship with her. I was stuck in the mindset that she could be such a great character if she just got over her issues. But her issues are what made her who she is. Favourite ever it'd probably be Kelsier from the Mistborn series!

From Will it's a tie between: Shera, Eithan and Orthos with a special mention to Lucan!!

Reply
Rapidapshure
8/28/2018 05:53:25 pm

Sorry I forgot to go into the why!

Kelsier is true to his friends and absolutely Ruthless, I loved reading about him, his motivations and how he still came across as a loving friend and dangerous enemy.

Shera - I just had so much fun reading about her, she is still discovering who she is while knowing that maybe could/should feel more when she kills someone but never hesitating to do her job or protect the ones she caes about - There are some people I am looking forward to her killing.

Eithan is hilarious. I love reading things from his point of view, he's charming, witty, knows far too much of whats going on but there's a darkness there and I love seeing when Eithan loses his patience or actually has to fight, but throughly enjoy his general disposition too!

Orthos also makes me chuckle but is such a wonderful pairing for Lindon and gives him a bit of the attitude he's going to need.

Lucan is too beautiful for this world or that of Asylum.

That is a very very hard question to ask a person Will. To choose a favorite character of ANY book.. thats tough. I read too much, and listen to audio books at work all day. I'd have to say my favorite is Dandelion from the Witcher Saga (spoilers for that series ahead) the scene where Dandelion is being led to the executioners block and is asked if he wishes to say his final words so he addresses the crowd gathered. "Greetings good people! How are you?" "uh.. doing well." "thats good! I am doing well myself. alright you may proceed" He is as close to a celeberty as you see in that series and acts the part well. Always puffing out his ego as the best bard, always a few words away from sneaking away with a maid, and always a loyal (and rather comical) friend of Geralt.

Any book, ever? My choice is Kaz Brekker from Leigh Bardugo's 'Six of Crows.' He's deeply flawed, but incredibly cunning and shows that he's also caring in his own way. He's a brilliant rendition of the evil mastermind archetype while still remaining genuine and relatable.

Narrowing it down to your books? Oh man, that's a hard choice. My first instinct is Lindon or Eithan. Simon is great. Dross was positively hilarious. You know what? I'm going with Fisher Geisha. The world needs more grumps and grouches. They make everything spicier. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that Geisha remains part of the team all the way to the end.

I'm going with the boring answer and say Jon Snow from GoT. I know most fans actually watch the show, and so did I, but man the books were so much better for me, especially since I read the books first. I wasn't all that tempted to watch the show and was a bit disappointed they Couldn't stick to the original. (cost, complexity and all that.

Jon's fear of Having bastards, his tolerance of hatred and discrimination against him , the drive to want to Do something important, the constant setbacks he has. Despite all that he turned out a good guy. He's just so human that his struggles remind of me mine sometimes.

I know it's too late btw. and really I have the book and habe never really been into auidibles. But I just thought I'd put my cents.
My favorite character from your universe is Simon, yes the person that made me love your books. So it's kind of sad you don't have Travelers Gate in your game plan as yet. it's cool though I like Cradle and Elder empire too.

Currently my favorite character in an active series is Bai Xaoichun from A Will Eternal, at least in terms of xianxia. He's got a personality, which is something a lot of xianxia characters only vaguely have, and he isn't super kill-happy either.

It's a great novel, and the fun, comedy aspect is a nice change of pace from kill-murder-kill xianxia novels. He's got a base of operations he returns to instead of being a no-face murder-hobo, which is fun because it's nice to see his sect grow thanks to his efforts. Gives the novel a sense of progress.

I recommend A Will Eternal to anybody looking for something similar to Cradle except more focused on silly humor. Er Gen writes funny stuff, and good quality relative to others on the subgenre (when you take into consideration that he has to write 2 chapters a day of course. You can't expect Hemmingway prose and ASOIAF story structure at that release rate). The translation is also very high-quality, though it maintains some of the strange turn of phrase that comes from translated novels still.

The one thing to watch out for his Er Gen's fetish for bestiality. The wild-animal rape (always male victims, if that makes you feel better) is a little too much for some people. It's played for laughs though.

Bai Xiaochun accidentally creates a drug that drives male beasts into heat, so for the rest of the series, he occasionally uses it intentionally or unintentionally on his enemies. Always played as a gag.

It sounds worse than it is, but it’s worth warning people about.

Alright, thanks Will. I'll give it a try.
