Dreadgod is up for pre-order, and we're already #4 on Audible's Best-Seller list! Congratulations to the incredible numbers of you who were so Johnny-on-the-spot about audiobook pre-orders. Your enthusiasm overwhelms me.
For the rest of us, pre-orders are up both for ebook and for audiobook! The book will go up for sale on July 5th in all formats, which means ALL formats. Ebook, Kindle Unlimited, audiobook, paperback, interactive dreamscape, aerosol inhalant, telepathic transmission, dimensional illusion crystal, genetic infusion, chemical cocktail, quantum space fragment, and designer tea. What time on July 5th will Dreadgod go live? TL;DR - We don't know, and there's nothing we can do about it, please don't hit me. It's supposed to be up at midnight in each time zone, i.e. "It's 12:01 AM and now I have the book!" It rarely, if ever, actually works like that. There are always issues on Amazon's part, which I can neither control nor influence. Let's all be frustrated at them together. Whispersync (the service that lets you jump between Kindle and Audible versions) always takes a couple of days to work correctly. Don't know why. I blame gremlins. Why isn't there a paperback pre-order? We can't offer paperbacks for pre-order. We would if we could. In order to help ensure that you get the book as quickly as possible, we upload the paperback about a day early, so you should be able to order it on July 3rd or 4th (we'll let you know) for delivery on the 5th. Again, we don't have precise control over how long it takes them to put it up for sale or how long shipping will take. Can we guarantee you'll get it on the 5th? We cannot, but we're trying our best. If you want to read the story ASAP, don't order paperback. Also, Dreadgod merch is live now in the Will Wight Store! We will be doing a launch livestream as usual, but we're doing it on YouTube Live instead of Twitch. (I'll let you know the date and time later, because we're trying to figure out how to time it appropriately. We have to consider both FREEDOM Day here in the USA and the number of Honorary Australians reading the book a day early.) Aaaaand there you go! As is traditional for Launch Time, you'll be hearing from me again soon! Hope you enjoy the book! -Will

Anyways! All the best Will! We're sure this book will be awesome, as always! But in the mean time, how about a little taste? It will be like Charity's madra to Dross... "Just a taste?"

He did say "as is tradition" so I'm sure that's what he is talking about.

It's now up. Interesting perspective on what looks like the most advanced continent on Cradle.

I don't think any of the paperbacks will arrive on time this release. July 4 is a holiday, so the shipping will be delayed

I see you have puzzles for the new Traveler's Gate art. For those who like their puzzle difficulty at Sage levels, have you thought about doing a Dreadgod art poster? Or even the Dreadgod cover? Or all of the real of the Cradle book covers/art, for that matter...

For this book release, purely for statistical information, I've been following the Amazon "Best Seller" data (for fantasy sales) on an hour-by-hour basis for review. At present, you're only one place above the first Harry Potter book. I think you could make some serious money with a PPV celebrity boxing match against J.K. Rowling. Just an idea...

Super excited for the new book. Counting my hours/seconds!! I started re-listening the series on my audible to prep up my headspace.

It makes sense based on what the physical changes Heralds undergo when their body is reforged mean. There are some changes that can't be stopped, some changes that can't be stopped but can be minimized, and some changes which are truly optional. Just like Northstrider didn't let his scales grow past his arms, but couldn't remove the scales altogether, Yerin removed most of Ruby's red coloring, but had to keep it in her eyes and some of her hair.

I have never quite understood the point of pre-ordering books. Some of my reluctance comes from memory of leaner financial times. Times when the day a book came out was almost irrelevant to me. What was important was when my paycheck after that date was. But even leaving that aside, having the book delivered to my Kindle while I sleep seems pretty meaningless to me. And it isn't like Amazon is going to run out of digital licenses for a book either.

I don't do pre-orders either, but that's because I haunt the Amazon Kindle page. I imagine for readers it's handy to just pre-order and not have to try to remember the release date, to go and buy the book...

As the poster above stated, it’s convenience for me. I used to rush to the bookstore on release date when I bought physical copies, but no longer need to with the Kindle. It also wets my appetite and allows me to reread a series when I need to. I also get a good feeling supporting an author financially, since I don’t write reviews, and it feels more special to me doing it during pre-order.

I pre order to show support for my favorite authors. I also know I will be reading and listening multiple times. So I like to have the book as soon as I wake up on release day. So I never even have to get out of bed just grab my kindle and off to the races with Lindon and the gang! I will get the physical when it comes out so I can have it on my shelf, just because I want it! I don’t need to pre order since I am an unlimited subscriber. I just want to. Call it encouragement to keep writing these stories!

I have been told too many times in too many places that authors owe me nothing. That the sole relationship between an author and their fans is that they write a book and we either buy it or don't. This has never happened in regards to Mr. Wight but I strongly suspect that if I brought certain issues up that it would. Fair enough, I can live with that (because I don't really have any choice). But the other side of that is that I owe the authors nothing either. So I buy the book in the method that suits me best with no regard for how it effects the author. This also makes me much less likely to participate in a kickstarter campaign or an author's Patreon or whatever else. I will not pirate a book, but that is for me, not for the author.

As someone who does take time off work to read new releases for my favorite series, pre ordering means I get an email notification the instant it's available to read. I make a pot of tea, read all night, then go to bed in the morning.
