Cradle #1 Once Again

Dreadgod (available now!) is the fourth book in a row that has made it to #1 on the whole Kindle Store. Starting with Wintersteel, every Cradle book has hit the top.

That's pretty insane, I won't lie.

Currently, we are still only #2 on Audible. We're behind the audiobook version of a book that has a movie coming out in a week. Curse you, Crawdads!

Thanks so much to everyone who's already read (or is currently reading) the book! Without you, I would still be working in the salt mines, dying of the dreaded Salt Lung.

Reading Dreadgod before re-reading the whole series up until now as tradition dictates. Makes me wonder if Will gets a better commission on repeated kindle unlimited checkouts vs. Book purchases?

Unfortunately, KU only pays out for the first full read per individual. Which kinda sucks but also makes some sense (given that you can read a book you own a billion times).

I woke up this morning to an Amazon notification that they'd delivered Dreadgod to my Kindle.... It's now almost 10 PM and I just finished it (don't ask, my boss is NOT happy with me.....). And I have just one small question: what's the release date for Waybound?????? Tomorrow? Next week, next month? No pressure!

nothing official but I heard from a demon lord that Will is going to be going on an extended indefinite Hiatus that may or may not be because of the demon lord. I told the demon lord not to but we don't really listen to what we are told to do. Hang in there Will Will send rescue once I obtain enough biscuits as the payment.

Copying my comment about the weird line "ancient will struck him like a truck" into this blog post. This is the first time I've seen you make a simile that refers to stuff that doesn't seem to exist in Cradle, and it's 11 books in!

You also referred to Reigan Shen's main at one point but I didn't stop to note the rest of the sentence.

Don't report things on Kindle, sometimes Amazon takes down ebooks when you do that until the issue gets fixed, then it has to be re-approved which can take up to a few days.

Less typos than any other new kindle/ Ku book I've read this year. Typos pull us hard from the story and begin inner disbelief in the author a tiny bit and if many, you feel insulted as a fan or reader. Great job team WW! And great job on this last induction of depth and hilarity in a way to still allow Max immersion! Love your creative entities and Thank You for sharing. Monsieur le Crüsch!

May be consider Dreadgod minor spoiler, but more of a theory about what come next -
I’m sure I’m not the first to think this but I could not find any desiccation. as there are 7 pillar of reality (the seven original judges) and we have 7 member of team reaper who do you think will go to what department?
My guess are:
The Titan (Protection) – Ziel
The Wolf (Combat) - Yerin
The Phoenix (Restoration) – little blue
The Spider (intelligence network) – Dross

The Hound (Fate) –
The Ghost (death and rebirth)-
The Fox (scouts?) –

Orthos
Akura Mercy

Hmm, Mercy should be the Hound since her path seems to directly touch reading fate. I'd put Lindon as the Ghost, but I just can't see Orthos as the fox...

I think maybe:

The Hound (Fate) - Mercy (because her mother reads fate in the shadows)
The Ghost (death and rebirth) - Lindon (because of his hammer and his powers)
The Fox (scouts) - Lindon's sister (she already has the tail)

also, if orthos and little blue are wrapped into Lindon's power then maybe Ozriel could finally hold the mantle as the phoenix.

It all lines up, but the whole point is to overthrow the court of 7 (8) because it doesn't work and so they need to become reapers. Who knows, I am just so grateful for this well written series and can't wait to see what happens in the final book.

I can agree about it in general, but not sure about the sister as I think she hate/blame Lindon after what happened
I'm really trying not to spoil anything as this is a really good book in the series but I did not get the impression she will join the group by the way there last conversation gone, but I could be wrong

I just found this series about a month ago and I have read/listened to the entire series up through Dreadgod in that time. I say that to say… I don’t even know if this reply is a spoiler or not because I rolled straight from Reaper into Dreadgod.

I don’t think Mercy would use her connection to fate (assuming she has one since that hasn’t been shown yet) like her mother since her revelation is about NOT being her mother. So, I would tend to think…

Hound - Lindon
Ghost - Orthos (but I’m not sure he fits any of the spots)
Fox - Mercy

We’re assuming we know who the seven will be. Ozriel is still bound by the Pact. Maybe Lindon/Dross fill Ozriel’s shoes and there are two others not considered but will be caught up in the last book. I can see Charity filling a role after her reaction to events in the book and don’t forget Eithan was very interested in Jai Chen

Given that those are job titles within the Abidan, who Eithan actively does not want Lindon et. all to join, I don't think any of them will be taking any of those titles.

I understand why you think so, but I find that there are 7 people in the group and there are 7 Abidan as a too big of a coincidence.
I do not think they will replace them in the next book I just feels like there is a reason for it, and each will go to 1 or the doors in the labyrinth

I believe the point of the crew is that they're not supposed to ever be Judges, as that would require binding themselves to The Way, but, if were making guesses, Mercy would definitely be The Hound. Also, Dross is Lindon's presence, Will said so at the end of Ghostwater(?)

Dross, Little Blue, and Orthos are considered a part of Lindon by the universe. Aethen says as much when he's explaining to Lindon how to protect tiny Orthos and Little Blue before entering the labarenth in book 9. So I doubt they could be judges.

I feel that our heros shouldn't join the Abidan as Judges. Daruman is clearly more powerful than any one judge (except maxxed out Ozzy). So clearly, judges aren't necessarily the most powerful. They are also bound by the Eldari Pact.
The danger to the Abidan comes from the Void... I think a Reaper with power over the Void itself, well that would be something now, won't it? Specially when said sacred artist and his cohort are not bound by the Eldari Pact.

In reaper, as she is flying through sector 11, she notes amalgam, which is the iteration for travelers gate, so there is crossover in those series.

I am significantly disappointed that there was no mention of catnip, even in the bloopers. Other than that (and the extremely twisted stunt you pulled at the end) the book is great. Gratitude.

PS: Seriously, why didn’t you do a blooper about Emriss’ leaves being like catnip. It was pretty much staring you in the face and you had a relative multitude of opportunities. I’m genuinely confused and curious as to why that scene isn’t in there.

Loved this book! I can't believe there is only one more. It seems like there could be 2 or 3 more books on Cradle unless the last one is going to be Brandon Sanderson Stormlight length 😀. I can't wait to see how it all wraps up!

I'm also holding out hope for another series focusing on what happens when they ascend, and hopefully bringing Fury back into the mix!

I found the series about a month ago, and I just caught up to the end of the series (or to the end of the most recent book in the series anyway). I can tell you that the more I read/listened, I found it harder and harder to put the books down. I listened through Dreadgod in less than 4 days, and I am thinking about giving the entire series a second listen.

It would be impossible to translate correctly into movies or series as there's too much context required. If they'd did it, the product would probably be disappointing for fan readers

I don't disagree it would be a risk, and you'd need the right people involved, but I think about some of the better fantasy and anime stuff Netflix has released over the last couple of years and I think it's possible. I think it would be phenomenal to see Lindon and Yerin fight their respective battles in a Castlevania, Yasuke, Resident evil esque style anime series. Maybe a little less gore, but you get my point

I'd guess since Lindon gave it to Ziel personally, and there is not so much gap between Ziel and Mercy, and Mercy being Overlady could sometimes operate at Archlady - same as Ziel who is "barely Archlord"... I think either the same would have worked as is OR Lindon would have made the minor upgrade as needed.
This is quite in contrast to Kelsa to Jai Long transfer. The power gap there is huge, not only 3 levels of advancement, but add in the effect of Soulfire and Will (Pun not intended). The lord realm is literally a class above Gold. So Low Gold to Lord... the gap's too much for the same device to work.

Please... dont stop. Take a year off or whatever you need... but dont stop.. there are so many places the cradle series can go. So many characters so many back stories that can be made. So many questions I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS :) ... please keep it going one way or another. I found unsouled by chance. You opened a whole universe! It is deadly and beautiful. I tell everyone i know about this series. My son loves it.. my husband loves it. Just man... dont quit. Lol it is so hard to find a book that is this universal i can listen to it no matter who is around me. It is "clean" where some books go full rated r...

Have you read/listen to the empire books from Will. There is 3 in each series 6 in total. Get those and pay attention to them you will find connections to the other books and worlds. I have read and listened to everything that Will has written I can’t get enough. Plus if you like Travis as the narrator I would recommend the first 4 dragon lance books by Weis and Hickman. While Will is writing Waybound that is.

Hi Will. Love the Cradle series. I read it up to Underlord a few years ago now I'm revisiting the whole series again. In the off chance you answer these comments: what's the skill or practice that has helped you the most in putting a story together for a book?

Apologies if you've already answered this somewhere else. I've always wanted to create my own story but thinking about the process it must involve overwhelms me. Any tips or pointers for the world of aspiring authors is appreciated.
