Happy 4th of July and 4th book in The Last Horizon series! We have a lot to celebrate this week at the Wight House, but mostly the release of our new book!
The Pilot is the 26th novel I've released, which means the book I'm writing now (What is it? It's a mystery...) will be my 27th. And when I realized that, I recalled a memory I hadn't thought of in probably ten years. When I first started writing novels, we would sometimes talk about a future when I'd written a bunch of books. We picked a random, super-high number out of thin air to mean "an arbitrarily high but insane number," and the number we used was 27. "Oh, sure, maybe when you've written twenty-seven books we can talk about it." "Yeah, I feel that way now, but I might feel differently when I've written twenty-seven books." "I've written three novels, not twenty-seven." ...and so on. To us at the time, 27 = an impossibly high far-off dream. At some point along the way, we stopped saying that, because when you get to novels 13, 14, 15, etc. then 27 starts to feel achievable. I honestly forgot about this until I realized that I had started work on the infamous #27. Thanks for sticking with me for 26 books, everybody! And thanks to the thousands of you who have already checked out The Pilot! -Will

Thank you for this book as well as the other 25. I have read every book you have written so far, except the pilot, and will read every book you write. I haven’t read the pilot yet as I want to save it for vacation, which starts Sunday. It is really testing my willpower not to start it, but as soon as I do I’ll be like a crack addict and won’t be able to put it down. My wife is helping me not tear into it by threatening me regularly as I asked her to do. She is doing exceedingly well at it, almost too well. Frankly she terrifies me and I shouldn’t have set her on this task.

That is not a small number... That is a big number! And to think I've read all of those and many more

It's funny that the 26th is the best so far, so I'll absolutely drink to #27. Cheers!

Will, having read The Pilot, can I just say that I hate you and wish the next book was already out?

That was my comment above. Although you are counting Threshold twice. (Once in 13 Cradle books, then again by itself.)

Its only counting full novel releases Threshold is less a novel and more a collection of short stories along with the travelers gate one so they are like several blog post/ booklets tied together to make a single book so I believe that's why they don't count.

When will we find out the results of the battle between Ozriel and Urg’naut? The answer is rumored to be hidden in the darkest corners of the Consultant's archives on Gray Island; however, the Abidan archives has no mention of a Gray Island on Asylum.

You did count wrong. You counted Threshold twice - Cradle only has 13 books if you include Threshold in it.

Hey Will thanks for the books and hopefully you can keep going to the next arbitrarily large number. I recommend rying for 52, a bald mage told me it is an important number.

So is anyone else wanting a prequel series on the original Abidon and Elidari pact? Or a sequel to the House of Blades series? (Sorry if spelling is wrong, primarily going off of audiobooks...all hail Travis Baldree)

Yes, I want a prequel of the Abidon. Yes, I want a sequel to the house of blades. Yes, I want an sequel to the elder empire where the fiends break loose. Heck yeah I want to go back to Harness because I need more pokemon spin offs. Yes, I want to see all these characters and whatever other stories Will cooks up to all come together to battle the fiends across the Way.

Is the iteration Fathom and Fathom from The Pilot the same?

It would appear to be the case, as Fathom (the iteration) is also stated to have an extremely high population, anchoring the rest of the sector. Which makes sense if it’s a fully populated galaxy.

Mr Wight. I read the Travellers gate trilogy many years ago when I was around 13. I don’t remember exactly but I believe the end of the third book was inconclusive. I think you should write however many books it takes before you decide to write more content in the Traveller's Gate universe.

I absolutely LOVED The Pilot! In my opinion, it was the best book of the series and one of your best ever, and that's saying something because I am a HUGE Cradle fan- I have listened to the whole series (Threshold included) multiple times and am now reading the hardcover books. The Pilot kept me on the edge of my seat, wondering what was going to next! Thank you for your amazing stories. Keep up the great work!! Looking forward to the next book in the series... and just maybe another Cradle related story??? **wink wink nudge nudge**
